Now that summer has truly started, people are jumping on
their motorcycles to enjoy the fresh air and open roads.
On
July 6th, 2008, women will learn to make the most of this
experience and improve ability with Vicki Gray, through her
company MOTORESS®, during a day at Canada’s historical MOSPORT Circuits’ Rider Development track – geared
specifically to women.
As a former supersport 600 racer, on track instructor, coach
and the creator of International Female Ride Day, Vicki Gray
is a leader in promoting skilled and rewarding riding for
women. “The aim of the women’s track day is to provide an
environment free of performance pressure that assists women
in taking that next step in their riding skill development,
while becoming better acquainted with the ability and
performance of their own motorcycle,” says Vicki. “It goes
without saying how much fun women have at a track day like
this. It’s a guaranteed kick and is not a new practice for
MOTORESS® as I did this in Europe under my former brand
RaceGirl,” she adds.
As this is not a track school, the objective nonetheless is
to provide resource to assist in making the most of the day,
advancing the skills of each participant at their various
and individual levels. Women receive coaching on cornering
methods, higher speed techniques, braking performance and
any other challenges they wish to overcome – all provided by
experienced female on-track coaches as mentors and role
models. The know-how gained by riding on the track instantly
propels day-to-day riding skills to the next level – levels
difficult to achieve from the public road. By the day’s end,
the rider reaches an elevated level of confidence and
understanding of their machine, as well as enjoying more
“grin factor,” as they experience traffic-free pure non-stop
motorcycling pleasure.
Controlling a motorcycle and possessing the skills to manage
a motorcycle are on-going, as even the world's best riders
constantly test and improve their proficiency. Practicing
under proper tutoring is the way to do this while increasing
both confidence and getting the most out of the pleasure
motorcycle riding results.
The day targets not just newcomers to the track, but those
who have experienced the track before – intermediate or
experienced with sessions to accommodate these various
levels. First time riders receive a mandatory training
session before getting started. There are also contests,
prizes, vendors, demo rides and much more. For more
information and to register, visit the Motoress
website.
