The Australian Casey Stoner clearly made the British
MotoGP motorcycle race his own with not only the fastest
qualifying time, but a dominant victory on the day as well.
Stoner rode to victory 5.789 seconds clear of the field.
Championship leader Valentino Rossi was second, just ahead
of Dani Pedrosa.
James Toseland had a disastrous start to his home grand
prix, crashing on the first corner of the first lap before
eventually finishing in 17th place.
Despite appearing to hurt his wrist in the fall, he
continued to lap on his Tech 3 Yamaha, but he rarely looked
likely to challenge for points and he followed home the
field with his head bowed a lap behind Stoner.
Jorge Lorenzo, meanwhile, enjoyed arguably the most
impressive race, moving from 17th on the grid to sixth
despite only having had a skin graft on his hand just a week
ago.
