A biker who was disemboweled after being thrown from his motorcycle onto a safety rail is expected to recover.

The crash occurred in Kansas city on Saturday while exiting a freeway when according to police officials, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and hit a sharp guardrail that sliced his midsection. The severity of the injuries caused his intestines to spill out.

After being rushed to a local hospital the biker underwent extensive surgery and doctors have given him a good prognosis for recovery.

No further details have been released.
