Wheels and Waves Gets a Charge From Energica's Electric Ride

Italian electric motorcycle maker Energica will be at the famous Waves and wheels in Europe, with a few surprises none-the-less.

The unique motorcycle manufacturer is heading to the equally unique motorcycle event held in Biarritz, a luxurious seaside town in southwestern France. Waves and Wheels has become the epitome of a unique type of motorcycle culture in only five years. Festival-goers celebrate a special feeling of freedom which goes beyond the conventions of everyday life.

Taking place from June 14th to 18th, the setting is laid back and the atmosphere characterized by creativity, individuality and mutual respect. Last year alone, around 10,000 visitors flocked to the Cite l’Ocean on the beach of Biarritz which is also the centerpiece of the festival. Wheels & Waves offers an exciting program including surf competition, art exhibitions, sprint races and rides across the Spanish border.

This will be the first time Energica Motor Company attends the French Festival and they’re not going alone. Coming along for the ride is Apache Custom Motorcycles, who is bringing something special.

While Energica will show its streetfighter model, Eva an electric motorcycle which features a permanent magnet AC (PMAC) oil cooled motor that produces 80kW of instantaneous power and a torque of 180 Nm. The streetfighter has a range up to 200km, is the only one in the world with an integrated fast charge system on board, and can reach a top speed of 200km/h in Sport mode.

Apache Custom Motorcycles will present its version of a café racer born from Energica’s said Eva model. Called Midnight Runner and shown at the top of our story, it was reportedly inspired by the endurance motorcycles of the 80’s.

Also at the event, Energica Eva EsseEsse9 seen below, the Energica “old school” concept unveiled during EICMA 2016. EsseEsse9 is the real name of Via Emilia, the major road that crosses the Italian Motor Valley, and it is an essential prototype, a concept that encloses the genuine engines passion typical of our region.
