Ohio Woman Rides Away with New Yamaha YZF-R1S

Coming from four ATV wheels to the saddle of a new Yamaha performance motorcycle is the new reality for one lucky winner in Ohio.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. have announced the winner of the ‘R1S Urban Ops Sweepstakes’ and she is Erika Helminiak of Grove City, Ohio who won the one-of-a-kind 2016 Yamaha YZF-R1S. Tricked out with a complete assortment of Genuine Yamaha Accessories, special graphics, custom lighting, and select aftermarket upgrades, including three sets of Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires, Helminiak won the bike in a random drawing from all entries received.

The Urban Ops R1S was presented to Erica and her fiancé Gary Thompson at Pony Powersports in Westerville, Ohio, by Shawn Alexander, District Manager for YMUS, and Frank Lark, Vice President of Marketing for Pony Powersports Group.

“I’ve never won anything before, and I couldn’t believe when the phone rang, and they told me I’d won the motorcycle!” the 26-year-old mother of two who enjoys ATV riding with her family, said. “My fiancé Gary and I enjoy riding four-wheelers, and we’re looking forward to riding my new Urban Ops Yamaha R1S.”

In addition to the new bike, Yamaha is providing Erica with free rider training through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and Pony Powersports is also providing free MSF rider training for Gary.

“We’re thrilled that Erika won the Urban Ops R1S, and we’re also excited that she is going to let her fiancé Gary ride her new bike, too!” Martin Vivanco, Retail Sales Promotion Manager for YMUS said. “And, with both of them getting expert rider training courtesy of Yamaha and Pony Powersports, it makes the end-result of this year-long Sweepstakes even better.”
