Coming from Peg Perego, a manufacturer of children's toys and baby products, the new Polaris Slingshot battery-operated riding vehicle is modeled after the popular three-wheeled roadster that has turned heads since its launch in 2014.
This latest powered toy could be considered the perfect gift to get young hearts and minds hooked on the open road. Best of all, the battery-operated Slingshot is American-made, being manufactured at Peg Perego's Fort Wayne, Indiana factory.
The Peg Perego version is powered by a 12volt battery, can hold up to two children ages three through eight and has a top speed of five mph. It will retail for $399.99 and is available in Walmart stores, select Polaris dealers and online retailers.
‘Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of the realistic details -- including a windshield, seat roll bars and MP3 holder,’ Peg Perego’s website states, ‘Bucket seats paired with a roomy interior offer plenty of space for growing children. A decorative rear shock and license plate help round out the next level look of this high-performance riding vehicle.’
The battery-powered Slingshot will be launched in red with black accents, with the possibility of more color options in the future. Key features include:
- Two speed settings plus reverse
- Parental lockout for beginning drivers
- High traction wheels that travel over all terrains
Since its introduction, the Slingshot has received wide acclaim for its striking style and breathtaking performance. Even celebrities have been spotted in customized versions of the already eye-catching roadster. This enthusiasm wasn’t lost on the toy maker.
"When Polaris first introduced the Slingshot, we were immediately taken with the dynamic design and saw the potential for an exciting and unique riding experience for children," said Nicolas Perego, president of Peg Perego USA. "We have had great success with other products in the Polaris line, and believe the Slingshot will resonate with kids and adults alike."
