Ducati's Supersport Closes EICMA With Award

In what could be its very first award, Ducati’s new Supersport has won the title of the most beautiful bike of the Show for EICMA, wrapping up over the weekend.

With EICMA taking place in Italy, Ducati was playing on its home turf and not surprisingly this was the eighth time the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has won the award in the twelve years it’s taken place. Putting a capital ‘B’ in bragging rights, it’s the fourth year in a row.

Organized by Italian magazine Motociclismo, the survey polled the attendees of the 2016 EICMA and the readers of “Motociclismo” to earn more than 12,000 votes for the SuperSport to be considered the best-looking bike of the Show. The new Ducati sports road bike secured first place by receiving 13.2% more votes than the second-placed bike.

Ducati has sent out photographic highlights of its show with the Supersport taking center stage, naturally. However, fans enjoyed seeing everything the Italian motorcycle manufacturer had on display. From the exclusive, hyper-technological 1299 Superleggera, to the new Monster 797 and 1200 and the new Multistrada 950. Two Ducati Scramblers made their debut at the 74th edition of EICMA, the Desert Sled and the Cafè Racer.

Clutch and Chrome took a closer look at Ducati’s SuperSport in October. The performance motorcycle is designed for those who love a sports-inspired bike that is also able to offer comfort and riding ease on everyday roads.

Not only is it more affordable but is accessible thanks to its rideability, active safety offered by the Ducati Safety Pack which includes Bosch ABS and Ducati Traction Control.

The SuperSport is equipped with the 937 cm³ Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine that supplies 113 HP and a full, linear torque curve. Thanks to the three Riding Modes of Sport, Touring and Urban the character of the SuperSport adapts to offer maximum enjoyment in any condition. Agile in the city, practical on the motorway and efficient on out-of-town paths, the SuperSport is undoubtedly a versatile bike. The comfortable seating position, for both the rider and passenger, the aerodynamic protection ensured by the height-adjustable Plexiglas and the level of autonomy guaranteed by the 16-litre tank all contribute to making the new Ducati sports bike an entertaining travel companion even on medium-range trips.

The SuperSport range also includes the SuperSport S version, equipped with fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, Ducati Quick Shift up/down and a passenger seat cover; these components are also available, as accessories, for the SuperSport.

Add longer service intervals than Ducati owners are used to and it appears to be a remarkable motorcycle.
