Even as waves of motorcycles bear down on the grandfather of motorcycle events, Daytona Bike Week, tickets are going on sale for Pendleton Bike Week taking place July 19-23 in Pendleton, Oregon. Organizers consider the event the fastest growing motorcycle rally in the Western USA and if sponsorship is anything to go by, that’s not all talk.
This year, Harley-Davidson Motor Company has signed up as title sponsor of Pendleton Bike Week 2017, promising two factory demo trucks will be in attendance. This gives riders the opportunity to experience the performance of the company's full line of motorcycles, including the new Milwaukee-Eight engine.
"Harley-Davidson is honored to be the title sponsor of Pendleton Bike Week," said Chris Kutsch, Project Manager of Harley-Davidson Events. "We are looking forward to rolling out west to Pendleton, and think it will be a great event for riders and non-riders alike."
This is only the third year of the Pendleton Bike Week, giving bikers an opportunity to enjoy early-attendance bragging rights for this up and coming motorcycle event. The location wasn't chosen at random, nor is the rally the result of an overactive business community. Located along Interstate 84 at the base of the scenic Blue Mountains, Pendleton, Oregon has become well-known as a hub for motorcycle touring, making it ideal for just such an event.
The inaugural bike week in 2015 had about 6,000 attendees, and last year that ramped up to around 16,000 across four days. Organizers feel with Harley-Davidson grabbing a sponsorship, 20,000 or more could attend this year. There has even been hope the rally could become ‘Harley-Davidson’s Pendleton Bike Week’.
"Pendleton Bike Week is the fastest growing motorcycle rally on the West Coast, and Harley-Davidson brings a lot to the table," according to Eric Folkestad, one of the organizers of Pendleton Bike Week.
Pendleton Bike Week takes place July 19-23, 2017 at the Pendleton Convention Center. On the list of events and highlights are a Grand Funk Railroad Concert, Rattlesnake 400 event ride and Poker Run.
